Clay making slime teaching
Here are some safe DIY slime alternatives using non-toxic household ingredients:
- Flour slime - Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar, food coloring and water. The salt helps prevent mold growth.
- Sta-Flo liquid starch slime - Mix Sta-Flo liquid starch with water and food coloring or glitter. Sta-Flo is non-toxic.
- Shampoo slime - Mix a small amount of clear shampoo with water. Add food coloring or glitter. Make sure to use shampoo labeled as non-toxic.
- Cloud dough - Mix flour, vegetable oil and food coloring. The oil keeps it from getting sticky.
- Jello slime - Dissolve Jello powder in boiling water, then add to cornstarch. Mix well. Refrigerate before playing.
- Oobleck slime - Mix cornstarch and water to make a non-Newtonian fluid that acts like a solid when compressed.
- Gelatin slime - Bloom gelatin in water, then mix with liquid starch. Add food coloring once cooled.
The key is to avoid borax, glue and other chemicals, and use basic kitchen ingredients to produce a fun, sensory slime experience safely. Supervise young kids and remind them not to eat the slime.
